Tree’s up!

Finally!

We got our not-the-same-as-real-but-still-pretty Christmas tree up the last few days. John took the reins on that one. The bigger adventure proved to be trying to put the thing together with a couple of interested pups afoot.

Fascinating.
Fascinating, even before the lights came on.

The rest of the evening was spent inspecting the tree…

From every angle!
…from every angle!

And though he periodically gets distracted by Thomas the Tank Engine, this tree is now Nolan’s favorite spot in the house.

Hello, Thomas!
Hello, Thomas!

The snow had all but disappeared during our trek to Indiana. You may be shocked to hear this (since we live in northern Wisconsin), but another snowfall stocked us right back a couple nights ago.

Quality assurance. (It's not yellow, mom checked!)

Little man is still pretty dubious about all that white stuff. It tasted alright, but danged if it wouldn’t stop sticking to his gloves and orange ring.

Trust, but verify.
Trust, but verify.

The snow got quite an earful when it kept hiding that orange ring. I can’t repeat most of it here, but you can guess who won.

He took to using the ring to scrape snow off everything he could reach.

In other news, we’ve been busy getting well after the obligatory seasonal round of colds and icky-ness. Nolan’s taken it in stride – the grownups here, somewhat less so.

Lots of time spent getting reacquainted with our inside toys has helped!

Little man was actually diagnosed with ear infection #7 just a few hours ago by our new friend, Doc Holliday.

I kid you not.

And no, before you ask, I did not choose him because of some latent teenage obsession with old westerns.

Psha, as if.

Here's a photo of my kid hard at work to help me change the subject.

Anyway, the good doctor is setting us up with an audiologist and an ENT to verify whether Nolan may need tubes in his ears. Probably I’m going to look back on all this effort to encourage his speech development and say “What were we thinking?!?”, but for now we’re going to keep at it.

How is everybody’s holiday season coming along? Are you as far behind on Christmas shopping as I am? Missing you all!

What do you think?
