The Great Thaw

Okay, that’s a little enthusiastic on my part. It hasn’t actually thawed yet. But it’s going to tomorrow!

And we're all smiles about it!
And we’re all smiles about it!

Apologies for the extended absence. We figured you probably didn’t need to see post after post griping about the bitter cold and snow, especially since many of you are getting more winter weather the last couple of weeks than we are!

They might be related. A bit.

Cabin fever has definitely set in around the Rudy camp. We’re looking forward to unseasonably warm temps the next week or so (40s! Sunbathing and swimsuits, here we come!), and maybe even letting this kid out for some time at the park.

Checking the mail. (Got to earn his keep somehow!)

I expect world-record-setting amounts of mud as a trade-off. I’ll take it.

We’ve resorted to parlor tricks to keep the toddler busy. Grandma Gigi was a help, sending Valentine’s Day sticky-gummy window hearts. TONS of mileage out of those things, considering all the glass in the house.

I will be stocking up on those for next winter, that’s for sure!

And that’s not to say we’ve been entirely idle. Somebody here finally cut his two-year molars.

That was a couple weeks of good fun, let me tell you. By the way, that's not a spill on his shirt. He nearly gnawed a hole in every article of clothing he wore those days!

Speech therapy has been going well. Niblet here has been babbling almost nonstop the last week, with new syllables popping up here and there as well. He’s also getting great at using partial words as words. (“Uh” for ‘up’, “Dee” for ‘Daddy’, etc.)

Crayons are big around here these days as well. He has a great grip, no matter which hand he uses. Guess it's still too soon to start calling him 'Lefty'!

Hope you’re all doing well. Our hearts are back in Indiana this week, with family surgeries and a sudden, unexpected passing. We miss and love you all.
